Using portraiture, each photographer is dealing with issues concerning human identity in a different aspect: political, social and personal. Utilizing portraiture, each in his own manner to deliver a personal take on the subject as well as conveying certain contemporary emotions and reflections on the way we live our modern life.
Portraiture is probably the single biggest genre in the world of art, and within photography in particular. A genuine portrayal of the human face and body features is arguably the absolute way to truly reflect on one’s self.

‘Cheek by Jowl’ is an exploration of the world of portraiture through contemporary eyes, trying to bring out new identities that are somewhat hidden in our day to day routine or maybe just taken for granted as we walk unnoticed through our urban life.
