Terry Francis Biography

Since winning Muzik magazines “Best New DJ” award in 1997, Terry Francis has had what can only be described as a meteoric rise to fame. To those previously unfamiliar with his flawless mixing skills and instinctive ability to work a crowd it probably seemed as if he’d arrived out of nowhere. Fact is though, he had been blazing a trail through the underground for no less than ten years before the world at large sat up and took notice. And perhaps more than anything else it was unanimously praised “Architecture” mix album that really put him on the map.

A seamless mix of deep duby house, celestial breaks and ethereal vocals - it wasshot through with the kind of shimmering techno sensibility that really marked it out as something special. Some called it “tech house”, whilst Terry himself jokingly described to it as “house no”.

Ultimately though, any labelling of Terry’s style is fairly pointless because what he does is what all the very best DJ’s do. He blurs the lines between the past and the present to create the future and always plays from the heart. Crucially though, he does ft just that little bit better than almost anybody else.

From that point on Terry was a confirmed house music lover and within a couple of months he’d managed to secure a residency at a bar in Leatherhead, the town where he grew up.

“It was downstairs in this mad basement at a rockers bar and they were all swearing at me and slagging off the music.” he laughs. “Two weeks later they were all jumping about and up to all sorts.”

From there Terry moved on to a residency at the legendary Stems Club (spinning alongside the likes of Colin Dale, Mr C and Eddie Richards), played extensively on the south coast and did numerous guest spots at parties like London’s Heart & Soul.

By 1994 he felt the time was right to set up his own night and in March of that year Wiggle was born. A joint operation between Terry, Nathan Coles and their respective partners. Wiggle is a night like no other. Still, probably London’s best loved underground house event. Wiggle is one of the only nights in the country that has always remained true to the original spirit of acid house, and that fact that it has sold out every time since it started pretty much speaks for itself.

Aside from the continued success of Wiggle and the release of his “Architecture 2” mix album on Pagan, the last few years have seen Terry’s career continue to bosom. He’s constantly toured all over America, Australia, New Zealand and the far East, made weekly trips to just about every country in Europe and still found the time to record for labels like Hooj Choons, Yoshitoshi, Alien and Primal US.

In October 1999 he started a residency at London’s Fabric, where he continues to delight both old hands and new comers alike each and every Saturday night. He’s recently started a new vocal based project for Pagan, remixed Didier Sinclair’s “Lovely Flight” and is presently recording his debut ‘artist album’ for Eukahouse.

Not bad going for someone who started out playing to a bunch of rockers in the basement of a bar.

DJ Three Biography

Currently residing in New York City, Three has been tirelessly holding the flag for underground electronic music in the US since his rise out of the sunny state of Florida in the early 90’s. In that time, he’s emerged as one of the brightest DJ talents in the US and continues to be a true inspiration for many of us. Three’s tour dates show both
diversity in audience and a genre-bending passion for good music; he’s held residencies at NYC’s Twilo, Robots (Cielo) and Love, as well as Florida’s legendary Simon’s while playing lauded guest spots at San Francisco’s Wicked party, Fabric (UK) and forward thinking events like Japan’s Labyrinth festival and Australia’s Rainbow Serpent.

Armed with a sound that borrows equally from vintage acid-house, techno and underground electronica, his Hallucination Limited imprint is held in the highest regard. Recently, some of the best tracks the label has to offer were made available through the ‘Hallucienda”
compilation - a first for both Three and the label. ‘Hallucienda’ captures the eclecticism of both his DJ sets and the label’s musical output. More recently, Hallucination Limited’s annual Winter Music Conference event and the Snatch residency in Tampa, Florida have become favorites of DJ’s and clubber’s the world over.

Following the path of his appeal as a DJ, his forays into producing have become staples for DJs of all styles. Three’s recent remix of Mish Mash feat. Lois - ‘Speechless’ (Lost in Translation mix) for heavyweight UK label Crosstown Rebels received praise across the board while other productions under Second-Hand Satellites (Multiple Mirrors EP) and Three A.M. (remix of U.N.K.L.E. feat. Ian Brown - ‘Reign’)
continue to be played on dance floors everywhere.

Aside from his natural ability on the decks, Three sets himself apart from the rest of the pack by presenting eclectic sounds with an open-minded attitude towards everything he does. From DJ sets to musical output, Three is a “DJ’s DJ” who has always leaned toward the
cutting edge without losing touch with the roots of house and techno.

Derek Plaslaiko Biography

Some people filter through the record bins, taking what are on the wall or record store employee suggestions. Then there are people who dig deeper into the dusty crates, and absorb music like a sponge; ignoring labels, bucking trends and are forever on a quest to find the perfect record. The ones that make the staunchest of chin stroking, note taking trainspotters lose their shit on the dancefloor, hanging on every record from one to the next.

Derek Plaslaiko unquestionably falls into the latter category. As a teen equally transfixed by Mojo and Wizard cassettes and Minor Threat 7"s, Plaslaiko followed the beats from his hometown 20 miles south of Detroit to the epicenter of Detroit techno, then enjoying its third wave of success. He quietly paid his dues on Detroit’s rave circuit,
and was a crucial piece of the puzzle for the legendary Poorboy and Syst3m parties of the mid-nineties. He quickly earned a reputation for forward thinking DJ sets that were clinical, sophisticated and extremely sensual. This combination resulted in a residency for Family, the weekly party at Detroit’s legendary Motor.

With a reputation for high energy sets that were versatile and tasteful, Plaslaiko slowly became in demand on the Midwestern club circuit; sharing the stage with such techno luminares as John Acquaviva, Kevin Saunderson, Richardo Villalobos, Baby Ford, and Matthew Herbert. It was also during that time Plaslaiko was asked by Carl Craig to perform at the inaugural edition of the Detroit Electronic Music Festival.

In 2003, Plaslaiko became part of the original team of DJs at Detroit’s Untitled parties, sharing a residency with Tadd Mullinix (aka James T. Cotton), Matthew Dear and Mike Servito. In 2004 he made the decision to head east and set up camp in New York City, determined to bring a slice of the Motor City to the Big Apple.

Currently, Derek is one of the resident DJs at the Bunker (Subtonic) in NYC, as well as an integral part of the Wolf + Lamb monthly parties. Most recently, he was honored in the Village Voice 2006’s “Best Of” poll as New York’s Best Techno DJ.
