Shindig started life in the 200 capacity World Headquarters way back in 91 and has grown steadily over the years. After 13 years residing on Melbourne Street, Newcastle, at the Riverside later known as Foundation, they now hold a weekly Saturday residency at the North’s most exciting clubspace Digital, which recently ranked 15th best club in the world in the 2007 DJ magazine top 50 global clubs. .

Hailed as one of the only true house clubs in the country (winning a Muzik award for Underground Club Of The Year 2001/02) Shindig has always brought in DJs who stick to their music policy and don’t bow to commercial pressure. This has lead to the likes of Danny Rampling, Roger Sanchez, Deep Dish, Erick Morillo,Masters At Work and Derrick Carter requesting appearances.
With one of the best sound and lighting systems at this end of the country, incorporating a full Funktion one install on both floors, joined with the best crowd and the booming atmosphere it is easy to understand why SHINDIG is delivering quality nights week after week to capacity crowds.
Shindig has a long and established history of bringing new exciting DJs to the city whilst never swaying too far from it house music roots, they have explored all avenues of house music from Tech house and progressive to Soulful. You will regularly see the likes of Steve Lawler, Deep Dish or Sander Kleinenberg in one room, whilst in room 2 you could be grooving to funkier underground vibes with the likes of Switch or DJ Heather.

Away from the club Shindig have also staged some huge events over the years, including The Love Weekend party at The Metro Radio Arena with Radio One and not to mention their yearly Birthday event outdoors at Baltic Square in Gatsehead.The Baltic Square party is an outdoor event attracting 3000 + people and is held at the end of the Millennium Bridge flanked by the Sage, Gateshead’s amazing music venue, and the Baltic Art Centre.
Further a field Shindig also host 4 events a year at Dubai’s leading club the impressive Trilogy.
