Bar 13

13 is an icon in NYC nightlife celebrating 11 years of bringing great parties.  Opened May 13, 1996, it operates as a bar, club, and lounge.

13 boasts two full floors plus a seasonal roof deck, which doubles as a smoking lounge. Its size and flexibility make it an ideal venue for parties and events from 40 persons to 400. 13’s roofdeck is a summer destination serving frozen drinks and cocktails under cabana style umbrellas.

In a business where turnover and burnout prevail, some of 13’s weekly parties and veteran staff have been around for years.  13 is proud to maintain a veteran staff, many of whom have been with the bar since its inception.  13 has been described as having one of NYC’s smallest dance floors, but the intimacy of a small club is what has made 13 a classic.

13 sits in the former location of the legendary Peggy Sue’s, a short lived but celebrity packed dive bar from the 80’s.  The club is located just South of Union Square at University Place and 13th Street, making it an ideal location to bring groups together.  Although it’s location is central to the NYU campus,13’s attracts an eclectic and extremely diverse clientele.  Directly reflecting the diversity of NYC, each night claims a different flavor and taste.  13 claims consistency with their reasonably priced drinks and an environment where dancing is always an option.  There is no door attitude, and staff goes out of its way to make customers comfortable.
