Track Of The Day: Bobby Tank - Afterburn
Last year, Bobby Tank‘s Nexus Moonburgers, on Prime Dub, smashed through the glitch-hop scene like runaway freight train. Weirdly, though, it was a bit of a departure from his usual style, which seems to favor edits, smooth synths, an ‘80s-ish sound palette. As his latest release, the Afterburn EP, makes the rounds, it will likely garner comparisons to Hudson Mohawke and Rustie, but don’t take those comparative references as superior to Tank’s sound—his skill set easily puts him in the same league, particularly evidenced on his latest number, ”Afterburn," today’s Track Of The Day.

Introducing: Herva
Young upstart Herve Atsè Corti (aka Herva) got his start playing drums and tinkering around with numerous instruments as a kid growing up in a rural part of Italy. After a chance encounter with some production software, Corti discovered a love for electronic music that has since evolved into a truly hybrid production style, combining shades of bass music, house, techno, and even touches of the West Coast beat scene into his rich, textured tracks. Recently tapped by the Bosconi Extra Virgin imprint, Herva’s debut LP, Meanwhile In Madland, saw a release last month, laying the groundwork for what is bound to be a career as adventerous as it is impressive.
In this edition of Introducing, we dig deeper into Corti’s roots, process, and his plans for the future.

Bomb Alert! Glitterbug - Passages
Cologne’s Glitterbug makes some broodingly dark and gritty tracks. The first one on his latest LP, Cancerboy—yep, it’s called Cancerboy—”Backwards," is just the sound of someone’s ventilated breath, presumably as they lie in a hospital bed. If there’s one thing right off the bat that speaks to Glitterbug’s strength, it’s his ability to immediately set a mood—even if it’s a supremely dire one.
