The Zodiac Cartel ethos is simple.
‘Jackin’ House Music With A Techno Soul’.
It was late 2006 when the mysterious Zodiac Cartel burst onto the scene, with the shredding ‘Devil’s Music’ on Lot49, and the massive selling remix of Elite Force’s ‘Used & Abused’ on U&A;Recordings. Both tracks sold in large quantities and immediately installed the Cartel as one of the ‘go-to’ producers in his field, with supporters such as James Zabiela, Crookers, Kissy Sellout & Sasha amongst the many A-listers supporting his prodigious career to date.
Whilst some have him pegged as a ‘fidget’ producer, there’s a lot more depth on offer in his productions, and a broad & diverse range of remixes this year has served to showcase his virtuoso production skills. Remixes have ranged from the deep & druggy (remixes such as Butter Party – Wriggle (Dark & Deep Mix), Harvey Mackay – Reflex) to the peaktime & anthemic (Fukk Off – Rave is King / Rennie Pilgrem – Drumma) to the wonky (Elite Force – Jack The Joint / Sawtooth Suckas – Ordinary Girl). After a year of outstanding remix production work, he recently dropped the ravishing single, ‘Klappyn / Robots’ single to great commercial and journalistic acclaim.
So far he has protected his anonymity (as it’s no secret that he has a long and distinguished back catalogue of releases under other names & in other genres) in order to let the music alone do the talking; but as a highly experienced & technically gifted DJ in his own right, he is stepping out from the shadows and undertaking a series of DJ shows in 2009.
Look out for forthcoming remixes for Franz Ferdinand, Jesse Brooks, Calvertron and Death Kit amongst others!
