Johnny D, aka Johannes Debese, is a German-based producer & DJ. Born to Eritrean reufgee parents, he was first exposed to Tigrinya, the Eritrean music of his heritage.

He was introduced to electronic music at the age of 12 when his friend took him to a local party. When he was 13 his sister bought him his first set of turntables and his brother began bringing him mixtapes from the Loft Club where he was a dancer.

After a few years, he became an active member of the Mannheim collective and was introduced to Ray Okpara. The two went on to partner up with Nick Curly to organize the Rajo-Music parties and play at the Loft Club. Johnny D also continued to host parties in the Rhein-Neckar (co-founded with Ray Okpara, Federico Molinari, and Nekes) scene at Mannheim’s Zoo Club.

In 2008 he was one of three artists asked to mix the ‘Disco Invaders: Cocoon Ibiza Summer Mix’.
