Marcel Dettmann, born on the 26th of October 1977 in Pössneck, Germany, is a techno producer and DJ.  At the age of 14, Dettmann was introduced to electronic music via friends whom he planned on going to parties with in Berlin. 

He discovered the likes of Depeche Mode and The Cure [a] and later the work of Detroit techno artist Jeff Mills [a]. By 1994, Marcel began to spin vinyl.

In 1999, when Berghain club opened in Berlin, Marcel Dettmann secured a residency that he continues to hold to this day.

In 2006, Dettmann took on the production aspect of music and his first release ‘Dawning / Dead Man Watches The Clock’ was signed to Ostgut Ton [l].

Also in 2006, he founded his own Marcel Dettmann Records [l] as an outlet to release his own productions, as well as the work of fellow Berghain resident Norman Nodge [a], and T++ [a].

Marcel Dettmann has also produced several remixes for labels such as Rekids [l], Bpitch Control [l], and Global Underground [l].

In 2008, Beatportal named Marcel Dettman as its top techno artist of the year.

Marcel Dettmann, born on the 26th of October 1977 in Pössneck, Germany, is a quickly-rising techno producer and DJ.  At the age of 14, he was introduced to electronic music via friends whom he planned on going to parties with in Berlin.  He started with the likes of Depeche Mode & The Cure and then moved to the darker, Jeff Mills [a] style.  Just a couple years later in 1994, Marcel began to spin vinyl.

By 1999, when the famous Berghain club opened in Berlin, Dettmann secured a residency.  Years went by and he continued to play out and still holds his residency at the club.  It wasn’t until 2006, however, that he took on the production aspect of music.  His first release ‘Dawning / Dead Man Watches The Clock’ got signed to Ostgut Tonträger and put him on the map in 2006.

In the same year, he founded his own Marcell Dettmann Records based in Berlin.  He is still currently building up his catalog, but already features productions by himself, Norman Nodge [a], and T++ [a].  The following years led to more successful releases along with several remixes signed to labels such as Rekids [l], Bpitch Control [l], and Global Underground [a] [l].

Born on the 26th of October 1977 in Pössneck (Thüringen), raised with East German youth culture, Marcel Dettmann began spinning records in 1994 and began his residency at continuum at Berlin’s Ostgut/Berghain right from its opening in 1999. He began producing and releasing tracks an remixes in 2006, and started his own label MDR and also got signed to Ostgut Ton.  In his constant exploration of electronic music, he developed his dark style that was the output of his fascination with the unexplored and unseen medium of electronic music. 

Marcel Dettmann is one of the local residents of the Berlin club Berghain.
