Laurent Garnier, born February 1, 1966, is a French techno producer and DJ.

In 1984 he worked for a French Embassy in London, but two years later he moved to Manchester where he began DJing.

In 1987, Mike Pickering (Haçienda club Resident), took him under his wing.  In no time, Garnier was playing at the Haçienda club as well.  A year later, however, he had to move back to France to fulfill military obligations.

He decided to stay in France for awhile where he began running the Wake Up parties at the Rex Club and playing at several other clubs around Paris.

He founded and runs the F Communications label with partner Eric Morand.

Garnier is also known for his collaboration with System 7.
