Carl Craig [a] is a second generation Detroit techno producer and DJ.

Carl Craig’s approach to techno is sometimes said to be different to that of his contemporaries as he draws inspiration from a wide range of musical genres, including jazz and soul music.

Carl Craig runs the record label Planet E Communications [l] and uses the label to release his own music, plus the work of other techno luminaries such as Kevin Saunderson [a] , Moodymann [a] and Alton Miller [a] .

In his home city, Craig is the co-founder of the annual Detroit Electronic Music Festival (DEMF) and recently he collaborated with Moritz Von Oswald [a] , one half of dub techno pioneering group Basic Channel [a] .
